Representing Womenalia.com, María Gómez del Pozuelo, co-founder and CEO of the first worldwide social media platform for professional women, has been selected as one of the 18 global finalists of the prestigious annual awards in female entrepreneurship, the Cartier Women's Initiative Awards. This international initiative, spearheaded by Cartier and supported by Women's Forum, INSEAD and McKinsey & Company, aims to encourage and promote those projects inspired and led by business women around the world.
In the first round the jury selected 18 finalists from among over 1000 applications. Business women, entrepreneurs and leaders, whose projects have been individually evaluated based on requisites such as vision, feasibility, business model, internationalization opportunities and social impact. In total three finalists are chosen in each of the six main word regions – Latin America, North America, Sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East and North Africa and Asia-Pacific.
Womenalia.com is one of the European finalists and the only Spanish company to have been chosen as a finalist in the last six years. Womenalia competes in this region with two other projects, Handishare from France and Pharmapod from Ireland.
Second Round, Coaching and Winners

Each one of the 18 finalists has participated over the past three months in a coaching and preparation program for round two, in which the six definitive winners will be chosen. The finalists have received orientation and coaching on their project strategies from a business coach provided by Cartier, INSEAD or McKinsey. This coaching and support continues for a full year for those finalists that are chosen as the winners. During round two the members of the jury receive detailed business plans from the finalists and will select one winner from each region.

Together we are unstoppable!During the week of October 14th, during the Women's Forum in Deauville (France), the finalists will present theur projects to the awards jury. Leading up to their final presentation they will re receive targeted coaching as well as being able to take advantage of the networking and talks taking place during the forum.
The winners will be announced on October 17th, 2013.
The winning projects will receive $20,000 in funding, the Cartier Women's Initiative Award, and coaching, netorking opportunities and media exposure during one year.
