Elana Drell Szyfer named CEO of AHAVA Worldwide

- Elana Drell Szyfer, has been named CEO of AHAVA Worldwide, a leading Dead-Sea mineral-based luxury skincare brand. After 2 and-a-half years skillfully leading the North American Group, the seasoned comsetics marketing executive will be taking over from Mr. Yacov Ellis, effective September 1st, 2013.

Building on her experience in marketing skincare products, Drell Szyfer has successfully repositioned and relaunched the brand, increasing sales in North America by 50%. She has been described as having an “electrifying impact on the business.” Drell Szyfer has also brokered an exclusive Dead Sea Essentials at Target. Globally, the brand can now be found in 30 countries, in leading retailers like Sephora in France, Coin and La Rinascente in Italy and KaDeWe in Germany.

Due to her astounding success, AHAVA moved all global marketing activities to under Drell Szyfer’s direction, taking advantage of her international expansion expertise and aligining the strategy with the commercial needs of key markets like the US.

Prior to her post as CEO of AHAVA North America, Drell Szyfer served as Senior Vice President of Global Marketing for the Estee Lauder brand, a division of The Estee Lauder Companies, Inc. There she oversaw marketing and strategy activities for the Companies' largest division and was responsible for the brand's skincare, makeup and fragrance categories and new media efforts. Her vast experience in cosmetics also includes positions at L'Oreal, Inc. for the Lancome brand, Avon Products, Inc., and Chanel Inc.

In addition to her stellar career, Drell Szyfer is passionate about giving back to her community and committed to maintaining work-life balance. Drell Szyfer is prominent figure in Israeli and Jewish philanthropic organizations. As part of her role at AHAVA, she also works to increase positive awareness about the Israeli consumer products industry.

She is married and the mother of three daughters aged 12, 10 and 7. In an interview for Jewish Women International, she advises “What I’ve learned is you don’t have to work less when you have children, but you do need to work differently… You also need an amazing support system, which I have — with the No. 1 supporter being my husband, Claude.”

Drell Szyfer is a graduate from Columbia University and she holds an MBA from New York University. She was named one of Jewish Women International's 2012 'Women to Watch' and one of Pink magazine's 'Top 10 Women in Business'. She was also recently a winner of the National Council of Jewish Woman's 'Women Who Dared' award for her leadership and advocacy.
