Magic mushrooms have been used for centuries by those seeking to reach a higher mental state. They were an essential part of many religious ceremonies and spiritual rituals, and they can bring many benefits to those who consume them.

They can help to break alcohol and tobacco addiction, alleviate symptoms of depression, help fight anxiety, and more.

There are many ways you can consume magic mushrooms, but to reap their benefits, eat them raw, coat them in chocolate, and mix them with other foods. But the best way to consume magic mushrooms is by brewing tea.

What Are the Benefits of Magic Mushroom Tea?

Magic mushrooms grew in popularity because of their psychoactive ingredients that can alter your perception and the overall state of mind. The most common active ingredient is psilocybin.

While more research needs to be done to confirm the full extent of its benefits, it’s suggested that psilocybin can be good for both your mental and physical health.

A double-blind study on 30 volunteers with no previous psilocybin experience showed that this active ingredient could positively change one’s attitudes and behaviors and result in a profound spiritual experience of great personal meaning.

A different study suggested that psilocybin can have positive effects on mental health and reduce suicidal tendencies among depressed individuals.

There are many more studies suggesting how beneficial psilocybin and magic mushrooms as a whole can be, but there’s one problem. Their taste is not very appetizing.

They have a strong, earthy taste that’s difficult to get accustomed to, and that can even cause your gag reflex to fire up. Not to mention that eating raw magic mushrooms, or mushrooms of any kind for that matter, can make you feel nauseous.

This is because mushrooms have indigestible chitin within the cell walls, which can result in an upset stomach.

The best way to avoid the discomfort caused by chitin is to brew your magic mushrooms  into a tea.

Magic mushroom tea will still bring you all the benefits of psilocybin. Nevertheless, you can strain it to remove the indigestible parts of the shroom and add various sweeteners and other ingredients to improve the overall taste. It’s by far the most popular method of consuming magic mushrooms.

Pure Magic Mushroom Tea

You can make pure magic mushroom tea if you don’t mind the strong taste that comes with magic mushrooms or magic truffles. It’s easier than you may think.

All you’ll need are some shrooms, water, and your favorite teapot. If you want, you can dehydrate your mushrooms and grind them into a powder, or you can just chop them up.

You’ll start by preparing the right dosage for your needs. As a general rule of thumb, you’ll need at least one cup of water per five grams of mushrooms. However, if you’re new to psilocybin and haven’t used it before, start with a much smaller dose – one cup per one gram can be very effective.

Bring the water to a simmer and pour it over the mushrooms. Avoid pouring boiling water over the magic mushrooms as it can destroy some of their active compounds.

Since psilocybin is water-soluble, it will infuse nicely into a strong tea. Leave the shrooms to rest in hot water for about ten to fifteen minutes.

If you don’t want any chunky parts of the magic mushrooms in your tea, just strain it and drink it. You can add honey, sugar, even lemon to your magic mushroom tea.

Just keep in mind that citrus such as lemon or orange can activate the psilocybin before you start consuming it. This can enhance its effects, causing it to hit you harder and faster. So, use caution. Drink your magic mushroom tea slowly, over an hour or two to keep the effects under control.

Mix in Magic mushrooms with Your Favorite Tea

Of course, instead of making pure magic mushroom tea, you can also add some shrooms to your favorite tea. Chamomile, ginger tea, earl gray, black tea, all these and more can be mixed with shrooms for a better taste and a more enjoyable experience.

Prepare your preferred tea just like you normally would, and pour the hot tea over magic mushrooms. Let the mushrooms sit there for about ten to fifteen minutes, and enjoy your perfect cup of tea.

Final Thoughts

Magic mushroom tea is perfect for getting your daily dose of psilocybin. Just remember to pay attention to the actual dose. It's best to go slowly. Psilocybin is water-soluble and will infuse your tea perfectly, and there's no need to increase your usual dosage or tweak it in any way.
